The Electronic Guide to Irish Studies in the
United States is intended to reflect
the full range of courses being taught in Irish Studies, including literature,
history, the social sciences, the arts, the Irish language and Celtic studies,
in the United States.
This Guide has been produced for the American
Conference for Irish Studies, a multidisciplinary academic organization
with some 1500 members throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and
other countries. Each spring or summer ACIS holds a national conference
in the United States or in Ireland, with plenary speakers, academic sessions,
films, poetry and fiction readings, performances of Irish music or plays,
and exhibitions of Irish art and photography. In addition, there are annual
regional meetings. As well as the Guide, members receive a Newsletter,
published three times a year, The Irish Literary Supplement,
published twice a year, and an Annual devoted to a particular theme
in Irish Studies.
